Everything You Should Know About the PE Electrical Exam
If you are looking to take the PE Electrical exam, you will want to know a few things beforehand. In general, the path to professional licensure in engineering will consist of obtaining a four-year engineering degree, taking and passing the FE Electrical exam, earning at least four years of engineering experience, and then taking and passing the PE Electrical exam. The PE Electrical exam is the final step for individuals seeking their professional engineering license.
Before Taking the Exam
Before you can sit for the PE Electrical exam, you must fulfill certain requirements specified by NCEES. Although each state may have different licensing requirements, they typically will all require the following: a four-year degree from an accredited program, a passing grade on the FE, over four years of engineering experience, a background check, and a detailed work experience report. Because state requirements all vary, we suggest checking with your state board to make sure you are following the right guidelines.
PE Electrical Exam Fees
Individuals will need to pay NCEES $375 to take the PE Electrical exam. Because each state may have different registration procedures, we recommend you check with your state licensing board in case there are separate applications or fees required to register.
